Launch at a glance

  • Launch day: Tuesday of week 4. Public sign-up opens and paid plans go live.
  • Primary target: 1,500 trial sign-ups by the end of week 6.
  • Secondary target: 12% trial-to-paid conversion for the first cohort, measured at day 30.
  • Budget: $9,000 across six weeks, not including salaries.
  • Team: Dana (founder), Ravi (product designer), Jo (part-time content writer).

These are planning targets, not forecasts. We review them at the end of week 2 against the size of the waitlist and adjust spend in week 3 if needed.

Risks and responses

  1. Waitlist below 800 at the end of week 2. Likelihood: medium. Impact: high. Response: move $600 from LinkedIn to Meta retargeting and add a referral reward to the waitlist page. Owner: Dana.
  2. Bank connections fail for some users on launch day. Likelihood: medium. Impact: high. Response: keep CSV import visible in onboarding, publish a help article before week 4, and check connection errors twice a day during launch week. Owner: Ravi.
  3. Users start a trial but never connect a bank account. Likelihood: high. Impact: high. Response: add a day 1 email with a two-minute setup video and track "bank connected" as its own GA4 event so the drop-off is visible. Owner: Jo.
  4. The launch date slips past week 4. Likelihood: low. Impact: medium. The quarterly tax angle loses urgency after the filing deadline. Response: lock the date at the end of week 2. If it slips, lead with invoicing instead of taxes. Owner: Dana.
  5. Support inbox overloads in launch week. Likelihood: medium. Impact: medium. Response: Jo handles the first reply using saved answers to the 10 most likely questions. Dana handles billing and refunds. Owner: Jo.
  6. Cost per trial stays above $12 after five days of ads. Likelihood: medium. Impact: medium. Response: pause the weakest ad sets and move spend to newsletter slots and retargeting. Owner: Ravi.

Risks 2 and 3 have the most effect on the paid conversion target, so both get a named check in the launch day run sheet on page 11.
